If you still getting the same problem with either memory module installed, most likely this is motherboard related issue. What could be the problem? I have an HP dv, and 2 days ago stopped working. When booting, I hear some spinning of fan or drive or both, but get an immediate blank white screen. If the first cable is damaged but the second is fine, do not replace the second cable. Unfortunately, there is no easy access to the cooling fan.

dv600 There are no new motherboards out there, they all refurbished. So I know it is getting power. I think the cooling fan just died. When people say backlight, most likely they are referring to the backlight lamp inside the LCD screen or inverter board.
One note, the way kept track of which screws went where was to use a muffin tin pan and took little videos with my phone with little notes. The light on the charge port does not come on and the charger itself is making a beeping sound.
Please tell me how to make vldeo reappear. If video appears on the external monitor but not internal, check connection between the video cable and motherboard. Just in case, test your laptop with video on the external monitor.
My son and I just finished replacing the CPU fan with great results…. The only way to be sure is testing the laptop with another working DVD drive. I use a 3G data card for Internet connectivity often and I always notice that the data card gets hot and maybe the line also gets heated making the soldered point connecting that contact pin to the motherboard or something else melt and thereby resulting in the contact pin slide inward.
Try starting the laptop from a bootable CD. It has two connectors the top one pointed with a yellow arrow. Actually, I found the nouveau driver gideo Lubuntu worked acceptably as far as performance, but it really overheated my video chip, so I did switch to the Nvidia drivers and got things working.

If I forgot to connect the audio ho shown in the step 22 like you suggested, will this cause my onboard speakers not to work? I used these instructions to replace a motherboard on a DVnr that had a bad hard drive controller card. Do you think it would be possible? So… I took it all the way apart to clean out the fan and everything else. And the temperature inside has been averaging about I am unsure of how to release the old ribbon and install the new one, specifically regarding the connectors.
You should be able to replace just the fan.

I suggest you install In case you havent figured it out the most likely cause, if all screws have been removed, is you may have left the TV tuner standoffs in even if dv650 model does not have a tv tuner.

I would test the hard drive. The conection from the AC adapter to the DC input jack was wiggly. I do have a question though, does the hp pavilion-dv and the hp pavilion-dv have the same lcd screen?
